Scouting Report
Woahh Nelly! Grayson Alumbaugh is an Oklahoma-bred baby giant, already standing 5’7 and 192 pounds as a fourth grader. The first thing that immediately jumps out is his size—he towers over many athletes in his class, and with a recent growth spurt, that advantage is only getting more noticeable.
While he clearly passes the eye test, there’s currently limited game footage available. However, what is on display shows a young athlete who is dedicated to his craft and consistently putting in work to improve. One thing that stands out is that Grayson often trains with older athletes, which is a major plus—it’s helping him develop against higher competition and accelerate his growth.
On one clip, his motor really showed up. After fighting through traffic, Grayson tracked down the ball carrier in the backfield and finished the play with authority for a loss. That kind of effort and aggression in the trenches is exactly what you want to see.
Right now, he’s still a bit raw technically, which is expected at this age and size. Continued focus on his first step and footwork will be key, because mobility in the trenches creates dominance in the trenches. As his technique catches up with his physical tools, his ceiling rises quickly.
Grayson is already one of the biggest players in his class, and if he stays committed to development, he has the potential to become one of the top young trench prospects in Oklahoma.
Stock Up—keep an eye on him. He’s going to be a problem at the next level.
