Jake Gill out of California is a young, electric playmaker for the Simi Valley Bulldogs. A true versatile athlete, Jake contributes at running back, wide receiver, and defensive back, showcasing his all-around skill set on both sides of the ball.
In an impressive performance against the Oxnard Panthers, Jake—also known as “The Flash”—accounted for four touchdowns and approximately 260 all-purpose yards in a single game. His game speed immediately stands out. Jake does an excellent job reading defender angles, making quick decisions on the fly, and planting his foot to explode upfield. His change-of-direction ability and instincts with the ball in his hands are advanced for an athlete his age.
Offensively, Jake shows dynamic versatility by lining up both wide and in the backfield for direct handoffs. When aligned in the slot, he is especially dangerous, often creating mismatches against slower linebackers and struggling defenders in space.
While Jake is a very dynamic athlete, there are still areas for development. The overall level of competition appears more recreational, and Jake currently operates at a speed well above most athletes on the field. Additionally, his current size—standing at 4’9” and weighing 78 pounds—raises questions regarding long-term durability and effectiveness against bigger, stronger competition.
Moving forward, continued improvement in foot speed, along with added height and strength, will be key factors in his development. With that said, Jake’s play style, skill set, and natural athletic ability are already on par with several nationally recognized prospects at similar stages. I would like to see him versus a bit more competitive openers as well.
Keep an eye on Jake Gill as he continues to grow and develop—he has the potential to emerge as one of the most dynamic young athletes coming out of California.
